It's okay to not eat perfectly all the time

We are swimming against the tide of the Standard American Diet.

Sokay helps you stay mindful of the foods you eat, track stumbles without guilt and get back on track.

No credit card. Just you and the process.

Progress is far more attainable than perfection

There are unhealthy food temptations everywhere in our modern society.

On a roadtrip with family and everyone stops for ice cream cones.

The workplace chocolate muffins or donuts a coworker brings in to the office.

The food sold in every aisle of every gas station, sweetness and savory treats everywhere.

The fast-food drive-through when pressed for time, running late, and not having slept enough.

You will have setbacks or you will simply want the immediate pleasure sometimes. That is not failure—it is being human. What matters is that you keep striving for your ideal.

Don't let perfection be the enemy of good

Set Your Own Limit

Choose between 1 to 100 "sokay" items and choose your timeframe ( anywhere from 1 week to 1 year ). Most of what we are sold in the Standard American Diet is not the ideal. Build awareness and keep trying.

Track Imperfections

Log food items when you feel you have strayed from your ideal way of eating. Stay aware without judgment. Remember where you want to go - and stay realistic about the environment you live in.

Build In Forgiveness

The process is about not beating yourself up. The important thing is staying on the path. There will be ups and downs. Plan for them and anticipate falls. Simply pick yourself up and keep moving forward.

The SAD current we are swimming against

In this day and age it is so very hard to eat healthy. Most people I know grew up with the Standard American Diet (SAD)–which, unfortunately, is being slowly adopted around the world in places that were free of it as recently as ten years ago. There are so many unhealthy options presented that it is virtually impossible to steer clear of them completely.

Many people resolve to avoid junk food—items they fully know are not good for their health. But short-term ease, comfort, or pleasure can take precedence over long-term health and happiness.

It is a powerful societal current that takes conscious effort to avoid. These market forces promote selling selling citizens addictive junk food at high profit margins, enriching corporations, at the expense of society's health.

Sokay is about being mindful of the food that we consume, and understanding that one or two bad choices does not need to derail a healthy way of eating.

It is about the process of nurturing the body every day. It is about focusing on the things that truly nurture us—while including self-forgiveness and simply getting back on track no matter the setback.

Everyone is going to fall prey to this from time to time.

Keep moving forward
